For a woman, a clutch is an accessory that compliments an outfit very well, making it stylish and elegant for a business meeting or a night out. But is it really only a woman accessory? Can a man wear a clutch? Actually, let’s reformulate this question… Can a man wear clutch without compromising his “manhood”?
When it comes to accessories, fashion designers tend to focus on the women’s market. And that’s fair… For ages, they’ve been the perfect market because… after all… a woman, ALWAYS need a new bag. But lately, things have changed: men take better care of themselves, they are tons of fashion men bloggers, and fashion designers have started to notice this rising market.
So, after some diggings, here are a couple of advices to help any man bring his A game with its clutch.
The girlfriend look doesn’t exist! Yes, women steal guys’ look and they do it so much that they gave it a name: the boyfriend look. But it doesn’t work for men… So avoid colors and shapes that might make people wonder if it’s a men or women clutch.
Choose a statement piece. The best way to make people forget that a clutch is a clutch is to make them focus on something else. A drawing or a sick illustration will do the work.
Bright colors are your enemies. They might drive attention, but unless your purpose it to bring your feminine side out, STAY AWAY. Opt for sober colors. Black or dark blue, grey, beige and brown are discrete and classy colors that will compliment your outfit very well.
Your outfit will do the rest. A clutch is only for special occasions. So, you’ll have to remember that without the perfect outfit you won’t be able to bring a stylist, elegant and confident style to the table. Most of the time, men will use it for professional events or fashion events.
