Having breakfast is your best choice of the day for many reasons. Breakfast gives you an energy boost and controls your appetite, which could result in weight loss. However, many people either avoid breakfast or grab fixes such as coffee or muffins to start their day. If you take a bit of time to make a healthy breakfast, it can make a huge difference in your day and life.
After waking up, eating a healthy breakfast provides you with the energy you need to start your day. Think about it; you need to get some glucose into your body to wake you up mentally and physically. Glucose is a major source of energy for most of your body’s cells. Monica Reinagel, a nutritionist, refers to a study and explains that adults who skipped breakfast performed poorly in memory tests. So if you need to run errands or perform tasks involving memory, it’s a good idea to have breakfast.
Alongside getting tired or hungry early on in the day, you might eat more throughout the day when you skip breakfast. However, people who have breakfast keep their metabolism in check and usually consume fewer calories. If you think that missing out on breakfast will help you in losing weight, it’s a big mistake – it’s more likely that you will overeat during the day and gain weight.
Instead of reaching out for that carrot muffin or chocolate donut in the morning, there are a few healthier and quick breakfast options such as yogurt with granola, fruit or vegetable smoothies and whole grain toast with peanut butter.
